in an attempt to resuscitate my non-existent chinese standard..cure my boredom of mugging too much in the bizad lib..and enlighten those people who may be super duper confused over what weixin posted..
i shall attempt to explain/translate man jiang hong..
importance to tchs: this song is like our 2nd sch song. we sing it quite often during assemblies. it is the song we sing esp we are sad (e.g lose tnf title). it is a song that inspires us to work harder n strive to improve.
hehe..those who think i made a mistake pls correct me..:):):)
context:
near the end of the song dynasty (abt 800 yrs ago), ie nan (south) song (in the beginning it was northern [bei] song but due to the invasion of the barbarian jin tribe (slightly different from mongols), the chinese shifted their capital south..), a hero, yue fei, stepped up and with innovative tactics (like chopping horses' legs etc.), superior leadership and inspiration, pushed the jin back, past the chang jiang..(or was it yellow river..cant rmb)
at this time, the emperor, influenced by this bad minister called qin kuai, became afraid that yue fei would eventually take over him as the emperor. hence, he decided to call yue fei back to the capital. he dispatched 7 (right?) gold tablets (imperial decree) to call yue fei back.
yue fei refused at first but being a loyal servant decided to go back even though he knew that he will be going back to meet his death.
if i am not wrong he wrote this either in jail or just before he left the frontlines. (i think the historians r not sure abt this also)
today in the backyard of yue wang miao, kneels 2 statues of qin kuai and his wife, everyone who goes there would spit on them (or so i am told)

Obviously i couldnt have typed the whole thing out from memory, there are many tricky meaningful words in the song, and some just can't be typed using MS Chinese IME. Anws, i guess typing the thing out actually helped me appreciate the song better, the words, the meaning and stuff... So take a look yea.
And while searching for the words tt i cannot enter. I found a zaobao article tt had a typo error in our sch song... argh...

I don't understand what u mean by "proper" way of writing it out. Its a 宋词, sung to a tune, which is why we sing it in chinese high in the first place. Anyway, the above is exactly how they presented it to us in school, but it really doesnt matter, as long as u understand the words, derive the meaning, then u can easily fill in the punctuation.
Some weird clsmate of mine challenged me whether i know any culture and cld recall any 宋词 at all, and i just immediately wrote the whole 满江红 out. Its good to at least know one, besides its your school heritage. Make sure u're able to write out the school song as well...

hi one and all i tink the last time i ever made a post was durin moi bday in j2 when i tried to solve the mystery behind all those ppl who gave mi chocs..haa but with xiz's constant 'nagging' to post on class blog i decided to post cos this jus came to mind the other day..
well i guess this post is more relevant for the chinese high guys so i hope the rest arent offended :).. i was in the office the other day n moi fellow army friends started writin man jaing hong on the white board.. even though he wasnt from chinese high or anithin but at least he could write the first stanza of it.. i was lyke wow.. he den asked mi if i could write it out n i was at a lost and ashamed.. i could sing it but i really couldn write both stanzas out perfectly.. so moi dear chinese high brothers could sum1 tell mi wat is the proper way of writin out man jiang hong..haha

Red Moon
I'm not sure if those overseas saw it but tonight the moon was copper-red as it was rising. Quite a sight actually since the sky was rather clear last night, making it even brighter. Not sure if you would consider it romantic though, eerie maybe.
As the moon was a feminine symbol in the ancient times, people who saw this then would have perceived this as the moon menstruating. But today, we know that the copper hue is a result of a total lunar eclipse. Which makes you wonder why we can see the moon so brightly in a lunar eclipse.
Quite like how sunlight hits the sides of the earth at a shallower angle and thus has to travel through more atmosphere during sunrise and sunset, in a total lunar eclipse, sunlight is refracted and bent around the earth in the atmosphere to reach the moon. In doing so, more of the blue and green parts of the spectrum are scattered leaving the reddish wavelengths to colour the moon.
There'll be a solar eclipse in 2 weeks time. Think those in Europe might see it but us in Singapore wont =S

黄城夜韵 2006
昨晚的黄城夜韵果然不负所望 =) 若要个概略，就去文阳的blog吧。不过可以说：第一剧最好笑，第二剧最感人。在第二剧 “九” 演个九岁小女孩的学妹也该是那晚最突出的演员。我还以为她是某人的妹妹！
第二剧有一幕留了蛮深刻的印象。就是母亲在她两个儿子要离家出走的那刻讲的那句：“我也想离开这个家，很久以前就想过了。但我是为了什么留下来？” 人往往只顾自己的忧, 忽略了别人的苦。
表演完毕后，跟着我们的学弟学妹唱那首华初的歌，也瞬时回味到华初的温馨和热情。换句话说。。。老了老了。。。

whee! hi everyone im back fr würzburg. :) visited a senior, like i said in my tagpost. i might go study there! its a nice city with hills and nice buildings, very small but cozy. was qt shocked reading all the new posts but YAY i got a share of mueslis and chocs too! right? :P am i gonna be sent any? hahaha

Good Senior Campaign
hello people long time no blog..(mainly cos i dunno any foreign language so well to write an essay)...
yah so together with the Good Man Campaign..there's this Good Senior Campaign going on..currently there are a number of 04s78 jnrs who wanna try for medicine..so we shld start collating our ideas of aceing the interview and essay and written paper and send to them..the overseas pple can help by contributing their experience on how to get scholarship..wad to look out for when choosing uni..blahblahblah..yah to ur jnrs..not necessarily 04s78s lah..but jus b a good snr..cos liddat then u can b a good man..

Okay, my german grammar is close to impotent with my current database but it's meant to translate as:

He likes playing Erhu. Last year, his body was not okay. He had a bad stomachache: pangastritis. This is one reason he wants to become a good doctor.
Erps, sorry I couldn’t write that better =) Typing in tamil is tortuous lah! And I couldnt figure out how to get the character "u" out so every "u" is "long u" =S. Yup, for every tamil character there is a romanized form to help us in pronunciation. Dont you think characters like இ or "i" are really beautiful? =D
