Mednuggets
Hello all! How are u all doing? Been too busy (really?) to blog lately but yes, you cant procrastinate forever. =p CAs will be over soon!
<-- [Thats a plasticine model of whats in your abdomen btw, quite chio huh.] Recently, most of the med students had the physician development programme (PDP) aka go to the wards and hone your skills at developing a doctor(pseudo)-patient relationship. I was attached to this cardiothoracic prof who was a little condescending to us feeble m1 students. In this case, the doctor-intern/med student-patient relationship was pretty similar to the warrant officer-sergeant-trainee. Ehhh, okay lah... not so exaggerated. Was lucky and got a really nice and chatty old gentleman who was an ex-police training officer who convinced me that: 1) I actually dun really know what's wrong with him 2) I need to go and pick up malay soon
After that went to the clinic and saw a few patients being examined by the doc. Wah, almost every single case had varicose veins. There were 2 m5 students there as well doing their med student-patient routine, examining the patient and subsequently presenting their case to the doctor. Hard to imagine we'll be doing that in a few years man. All the jargon :S "Maybe an APBI using doppler... then vein sclerotherapy... give some warf/hep and use 4-layer bandaging for the ulcer and maybe stocking later"
Eh.... the best I can manage is "drink more water, dun sit but can shake leg, dun anyhow press, itchy dun scratch, painful dun touch.... then if cannot, I'll find u a competent vascular or plastic surgeon"
So basically, that's about it this week. Nothing else really interesting of note. Harry potter is out in Singapore though! dunno if I shd go and watch. Looking forward to after CAs :) :) :) all the preparations for BT (biom training) and ET (e..... trip) will kick in.
So take care u all... Blog!
