watching that space
aiya.. since ryan's so busy and i'm so not busy, let me blog abit abt how un-busy i am these days - oh wait - does "un-busy" make those prospective doctors green with envy by now? =)
since both of my parents work, usually i'll be alone the entire morning at home.. those with more vivid imaginations can start to guess what i -can- do online, but truth is i'm so tired of waiting for pictures to load over my dialup connection that i took the drastic option of preventing pictures from loading in IE (under Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, then unclick "show all pictures".. for those on slowpoke connections, this is almost a must-do =S ) and since my prepaid dialup connection here is charged by the minute, i always engage in my ritual of writing emails offline before c-and-p-ing into yahoo mail when i eventually log on, and load blogs online and savour it offline.. giam siap right =)
it's a sad fact but i do spend a lot of time on my com watching movies / playing games / tinker around with my blogskin etc.. since i have no social life to speak of =S and it's not that easy to go to town either.. there's no mrt, and the nearest bus-stop would be a half hour walk away.. so usually i'll only go to town with my parents to buy stuff.. now that i've gotten my driving licence (passed my driving test on the fourth try, hurray) i may attempt to drive to town.. but there are no cars for me to drive around cos both of my parents drive to work.. so barring the faint possibility of striking lottery and buying a car with the ill-gotten gains, town is STILL off-limits to me.. (oh fyi my house is at the outskirts of town.. aka at least 15 mins drive away)
and occasionally when the movies run out and the games get a bit sian, i'll read the papers.. and to quote yifan, i do actually read it more closely than i did with my a level papers =) the english paper here is half the thickness of st in sg.. so i get only a small dose of world news.. the chinese paper is however much thicker, but there's this disturbing focus on murder cases.. i've been reading how people get butchered / jumped off buildings / squished into mush in head-on car collisions / thrown off motorcycles and head hits road and lorry comes from opposite direction and head squished into mush / eating by roadside stalls and car couldn't brake on time and smashed into table with someone occupying it and a poor fella squished into mush and the car tries to get away but foiled by enraged onlookers (well hope that doesn't discourage you all from trying out fabulous malaysian food.. just make sure you all dun sit along the road shoulder) and more gruesome details of deaths that could earn any newspaper reader a degree in medicine (am wondering whether nus med lets independent candidates to take their test).. and not only local deaths, singaporean murders are hot topics too.. like the huang na case and the hong mei case and the 29 year old indon maid case (a picture of a deserted orchard mrt with the (translated) caption of 'locals still afraid to be near grisly murder scene' was in the papers yesterday).. i have this niggling suspicion that this is done to reciprocate the gesture of goodwill from their counterparts in singapore - does the news on high crime rate in jb / man murdered in jb / man shot in jb / car tyres stolen when singaporean couple was eating in jb sound familiar? =)
and besides reading the papers, i'm also reading a book detailing what mengele did at auschwitz.. anyone can recommend me a good psychologist, lest i attempt to gas people with my extra-strong onion-and-garlic-infused fart?
and when the papers are fully scrutinized and books read, i'll tune in to the stream of korean movies raging on malaysian tv screens these days =) 'love in harvard' is in its 18th ep tonight (oh btw never ever try to converse with korean actors / actresses in english unless you 1. expect a reply in korean or 2. a korean freak like *cough cough* (name altered to protect privacy and the life of the author of this post from being bludgeoned to death by a horde of guys) =PpP).. '巴黎恋人' will be on tv soon.. any idea whether it's nice or not? the advertisement said that its ratings surpassed '大长今'.. hmm if based on that statement alone i think it should be quite good =)
and when tv gets boring (on most times btw) i'll pig out on bed.. usually sleep arnd 8.5 hrs these days.. i admit i can't beat yifan in this aspect.. wait - since when anyone can beat yifan in anything? =)
and by now i think i deserve the longest-post award for writing so much crap.. took me an hour to write these.. unlike this certain author who merely c-and-p emails from his inbox (and he didn't even have the decency to remove the irritating '>' signs) and is currently inactive after being a prolific poster just a while ago (in 03s78-blog-sense, a while ago = a month, commonly found in replies to "ooi, go class blog and blog leh": "i blogged a while ago already lah!").. wonder in which textbook is he immersed in..
and to others who haven posted for a long time: do take the effort to post sth! i bet a lot ppl will want to read how's ur life now (ok besides ns-men lah), how's school / work, how's maf, what textbook u're on, whether the jungles in sg is as green as ever, etc etc..
hope this long post can motivate prospective doctors to mug snell's / netter's / (insert textbook name here) and brave ns-men to serve your country with more vigour, cos when you get as bored as i am, you tend to write long blog posts on the class blog for no reason and hope people will read it and laugh at it..
ps if anyone happen to take offence at anything i write, pls take into consideration (and pity) the state of my mental health - boredom can sometimes push people over the brink of sanity.. =D
