Hmm, this shall be my last entry before I try to abstain from the internet for as long as possible... this weekend at least. ha.
To all seemingly fazed or just tired of all the problems in your life... yupz... share it with someone you find appropriate? Stress levels are up. Either kan de kai and take it slightly easier or find some inspiration and motivation somewhere to keep going? Not the best at this sort of things as you can tell.
"All the water in the world could not sink the smallest ship unless it gets inside"
Went to the botanical gardens today to sort of help out. Now that's a place that's undergoing a lot of changes. There must be at least 3 separate sites of upgrading there. Some interesting evolution garden is coming up with plants tracing well, basically the evolution of plants. New heritage centers, laboratories and museums are being built at the tanglin core and they're doing new landscaping for swan lake. Surprisingly, when I peeked across the barricade, the swans were still swimming in a stagnant, filthy mudpool. (wait, all lakes are stagnant... oh well)
Surprisingly, the park was still swamped with people... not exactly what I was hoping for. Times have changed... did anyone ever have a birthday party in botanic gardens before? Well, today was a real eye-opener. (not that I went to help out for the birthday party) Yup, and did you ever see people modelling in botanic gardens? Yar, me neither... until today. (not that I was transfixed on that or anything)
Hmm, but by evening the weekend crowds more or less dispersed and finally the place looked more familiar (maybe cos I was off duty by then.. hahz). Brings back a lot of memories the park I spent a great deal of my primary school and holidays in. Not to mention the night sessions with OAC :) The sunset at the bandstand was great with the surrounding yellow foilage and the sundial garden was still as sleepy as ever.
When the sky darkened, went to the great big space around the 145 year old tembusu tree. You know the one with the great low branch? Just lay down on the grass and stared into the sky. Unfortunately for me, it was rather cloudy tonight. But shall never forget the times when the sky was just filled with stars making up reasonably identifiable constellations. And the great big full moon among the tall thin trees when I was walking down the pitch-black rainforest trail like it was out of ET. Wow...
Ermz... rather irrelevant huh... got carried away. Wish I had a digicam or something to take photos. Hmmm... maybe all I want to say is. Somethings like the love for a place or nature doesnt change although others may. Though you havent been to the place or seen the people for a long time, some memories arent forgotten. And maybe one sweet day, you'll return. Things may have changed, but you'll pick up where you left off... but I guess it doesnt always turn out the way you imagined it to be. Botanic gardens is too simplistic a relationship... but it gives me hope. I didnt outgrow it.
For now, time to stop living in the past and prepare for the future. Immediate target is the prelims and As guyz... let's go! We can do it man!
On a more academic note, here a link to a very "stimulating" guy's webpage. Might be helpful for GP. http://www.schwab-writings.com/
I quote: He quit his job 11 yrs ago to work on the scientific understanding of existence and of the human mind and behavior in terms of neurophysiology, cognitive psychology, cultural influences and own thought, with consequences in the fields of philosophy and theology. He has also pursued some historical studies and written some short stories. Ermz... sounds like something I can only dare to dream of doing. Wonder how he gets along financially.
There's another site on existentialism. Quite interesting. http://radicalacademy.com/adiphiexistentialism.htm
Hmmm... did I cheer anyone up? Apparently not.... but going botanic gardens sure cheered me up and reinfused (is there such a word) some energy into me. So... yay! smilez. :) :) :)
Carnival coming!!! Weixiang bday coincidentally... *stephen chow evil sneer, throwing back head and jerking shoulders up and down*
National holiday coming... hope there's an outing. Heard singapore idol is debuting after the parade too :)
okok, time to end.
